The aim is to help teachers and other educators to recognize the value of engaging young people in democratic dialogue about controversial issues, to strengthen the confidence and competences to make democratic dialogue about controversial issues a part of their everyday practice in schools and other educational settings.

Topics for teacher trainings

Teaching controversial issues

Based on approaches of education for democratic citizenship and human rights, we offer tools and strategies for teaching and managing controversial issues in school.

Prevention of hate speech

We offer trainings based on Bookmarks, which is a manual for combating hate speech through human rights education.

Alternative education spaces

Since 2015, the EWC and Utøya have worked together to develop Utøya as a place for learning. In our teacher trainings we strengthen the competences of teachers to use altnerative places for learning in their practice.
