As participants the students will receive:

  • Exchange experiences with young people from Ukraine and Poland
  • Build their dream community in Minecraft
  • Gain insight into what young people across borders want for their local communities

Through discussions, creative building and new knowledge about young people from different countries, students will get to train up their skills in democratic citizenship.

WHEN: 19th November 2024 from 10:00-12:00 (Norway and Poland) or 11:00-13:00 (Ukraine)

WHERE: Online (Minecraft and Discord)

The languages used for the event will be English, Polish and Ukrainian.

Teachers who register their class will receive suggestions for resources and teaching programs on democracy and citizenship that can be used in the classroom both before and after the event.

The students create a user in Discord. The school or the students themselves must have access to a commercial version of Minecraft (Bedrock or Java) to join the shared server we will use on one or more digital devices. If the school does not have access to the Bedrock/Java version, we have some access keys that can be used.

For the Bedrock/Java versions of the game, the school must also have a network that allows students to connect their device both to the internet and to the remote Minecraft servers.

We will also have an alternative programme for schools that only have access to the Minecraft Education Edition. Discord is used to follow the event and communicate with others.

After registration, the teacher will receive information about the necessary preparations, details about the event and a link to the Discord server where the event will take place.

The event is part of the “Youth for the City, City for the Youth” programme – a collaboration between the Wergeland Center and Lublin Municipality in Poland.

This project aims to strengthen young people’s resilience to handle crisis and reinforce their ability and confidence to participate in public life. The project is financed by the EEA and Norway Grants.

On this event EWC cooperates with Lublin Municipality, Semper a Frente and Spillhuset Bergen.
