Background:

Many countries around Europe have already welcomed children and adults who have fled Ukraine since the start of the war. Sport can be one fun and easy way to get people integrated, as well as help them make new friends all the while strengthening their health.

The Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports (NIF) invited EWC to present  the most popular sports in Ukraine, to make it easier to find ways of welcoming and integrating Ukrainian refugees in their new locations. Here, Oleksandr Fomichov presents which activities are most popular, the structure of grassroot sports in Ukraine and provides examples on ways to integrate refugees through sport using community activities.
