The present and the future of the integration of refugee children in Greek educational system

The European Wergeland Centre and the project “Schools for All: Integration of Refugee Children in Greek Schools” organized a policy roundtable discussion and then, an online reflective discussion on the topic: “the present and the future of the integration of refugee children in Greek educational system”

On the 3rd of November 2023, a Policy Roundtable / World Café discussion was held to discuss the emerging needs and the challenges we face in the field of inclusive education in Greece. The aim of the discussion was to promote and encourage a fruitful dialogue between experienced professionals active in the field of formal and non-formal education regarding the education of children with refugee experience in Greek educational system. During the discussion, we also discussed on possible next steps and suggestions for policy recommendations in this field, focusing as well on exploring opportunities for collaborations between stakeholders in order to empower democratic and inclusive education in Greek schools.

Taking into consideration the conclusions of the discussion, the European Wergeland Centre and the Schools for All project organized a follow up reflective online discussion held on the 30th of November 2023, through the zoom platform, where the participants had the opportunity to reflect on the conclusions of the previous roundtable discussion and discuss about potential common next steps of collaboration.

These meetings triggered the exploration of a joint collaboration between professionals and institutions active in the field of integration of refugee students in the Greek schools, hoping for more meaningful joint future partnerships!
