Ingrid Aspelund EWC’s New Acting Executive Director
After 16 years as The European Wergeland Centre (EWC) Executive Director, Ana Perona-Fjeldstad has decided to embark on a new chapter in Brussels.
Ana has been EWC’s Executive Director since the Centre’s founding in 2008, and has been a dedicated and passionate leader. In addition to managing the day-to-day work of the centre, Ana has been responsible for strategic development, collaboration and contact with the centre’s donors and partners, as well as managing the centre’s talented staff.
Working as the public face of EWC, Ana has tirelessly worked to promote the Wergeland Centre’s expertise and interests in many different forums both in Norway and internationally.
Last week Ana handed “the keys” over to Ingrid Aspelund who will be our Acting Executive Director until The EWC board has finished the international recruitment process and a successor has been found.
Ingrid is the head of EWC’s Youth Section and also served as deputy director for Ana. She is an expert in youth participation and had the overall responsibility for the section’s work both in Norway and abroad.
“Thanks to 16 years of dedicated work by our staff and partners, I can leave the Wergeland Centre in the capable hands of my eventual successor, confident that the Centre is stronger and more relevant than ever before”, Ana says.
Ingrid is excited to take on the responsibility of running the European Wergeland Centre until a successor has been found:
“It has been a pleasure and joy working with Ana, who has build a solid foundation for the centre. 2025 promises to be an exciting year for EWC, and I am confident that we are well-equipped and ready to continue and further develop the excellent work the centre is already doing,” she says.
