Veslemøy Maria Svartdal

Communications Advisor

Veslemøy Maria Svartdal is the European Wergeland Centre's communications advisor. She is passionate about democratic development in Europe, as evidenced by her significant volunteer work, both in Norway and as an aid worker at the Polish-Ukrainian border in 2022-2023.

As a communications advisor, Veslemøy works to raise awareness about the Wergeland Centre's work to strengthen democratic development and human rights in Council of Europe member states. She contributes to most of the centre's projects and communicates the results with warmth and a personal touch.
Veslemøy holds a master's degree in Russian regional studies with a specialisation in Ukrainian politics from the University of Oslo. Her first foray into the communication field was as an intern for the UN Regional Information Office for Western Europe in 2020. She has previously interned at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kyiv, and has additional international experience from Belgium, Poland and Germany.

Veslemøy's main tool is her pen, and she regularly writes articles about the Wergeland Centre's work, which can be read on the centre's website.
