EWC-Pestalozzi Programme Seminars

EWC-Pestalozzi seminar held in Lillehammer

From 11-14 May, 26 teacher trainers, school heads and school teachers from 15 different countries participated in the 3rd European Seminar, Preparing Future Teachers for Intercultural Understanding, organized in cooperation between The European Wergeland Centre and the Council of Europe Pestalozzi Programme. The seminar took place at the Nansen Academy in Lillehammer.

The three trainers, Leah Davcheva, Liutauras Degesys and Angelos Vallianatos used various approaches and exercises for the participants to identify the different concepts of intercultural understanding, discuss "good" and "bad practice", as well as identify the skills and knowledge needed to deal with “interculturality”.

The EWC Research Coordinator, Dr Claudia Lenz had an evaluation session with the participants; Stimulated Recall, where the participants were asked to reflect upon their own and each others’ perception and learning process associated with different situations from the seminar.

The seminar was the 3rd organized in cooperation between the EWC and the Pestalozzi Programme, and it was the first to take place in Lillehammer, where the facilities and location of the Nansen Academy provided a very good learning environment.
